Instructions: Easy-Tear Inserts
EasyTear BeeTube InsertsSpring Easy-Tear Inserts: your mason bees should have clean nesting holes each year.
Insert refills open easily and are designed for use with spring BeeTubes (8mm) or drilled blocks of wood. Easy-Tear Inserts are a popular nesting material choice for Mason Bee Raisers because they are lightweight for participating in our
BeeBuyBack program.
Instructions
Place Inserts in a protective BeeTube and place in your bee house with open ends facing out. Bees find their nesting holes by sight first and BeeTubes with Inserts are very uniform looking. Provide visual markers by making an uneven 3D pattern or add some sticks between nesting tubes.
Pro Tip: Pests and parasitic wasps can easily attack thin-walled Easy-Tear Inserts. Do not use Inserts without a BeeTube or protective casing.
How to Open Easy-Tear Inserts
- Remove each Insert from its protective casing.
Easy Tear Method
Carefully snip the end of the insert and begin peeling apart in a diagonal tear.
Soak Method
Our spring mason bee cocoons are waterproof and can withstand a good soak. Place your Inserts in a tub of lukewarm water and after about 15 minutes, the glue will dissolve. Our spring mason bee cocoons can stay immersed in water for up to an hour without damage to the bees.
