Instructions: Bee Defender

The Bee Defender product is no longer available for purchase.
The Bee Defender is a dual season pest trap that lures parasitic wasps that prey on solitary hole-nesting bees.
The sneaky parasitic wasps are attracted to the same scent as the pheromones in our InvitaBee formulas.
Parasitic wasps lay their eggs inside of developing summer leafcutter and mason bee larvae. Left unchecked, parasitic wasps can severely reduce your yield of bee cocoons.
Instructions:
- Remove paper backing from the glue surface of the trap.
- Cut the pheromone lure package open for the season you are protecting. Press the lure into the center of the glue trap.
- Spring Mason Bee: use black lure and place trap out 2 weeks after female bees begin nesting.
- Summer Leafcutter Bee: use green lure and place the trap out during leafcutter bee cocoon incubation and while leafcutter bees are nesting.
- Roll the paper trap into a cylinder and tuck the tab into the slot.
- Place the cylinder inside the mesh bag and close the mesh bag with the provided rubber band.
- Place trap inside or next to the bee house, or place the trap inside the BeeGuard Bag of developing leafcutter bees (leafcutter pests emerge while leafcutter bees are developing).
- Refresh the lure scent by adding the second lure three weeks after setting trap out.
- Placing the sticky glue trap into your fridge for a few minutes can make assembling the trap a little easier.
- Place the Bee Defender directly below the bee house or near as possible to nesting bees for best results.
